How to beat surge pricing at airports.

During high-traffic hours, ride share services like Uber and Lyft use surge pricing, which increases the fares to double and and sometimes even triple the amount of what it would normally cost. One could wait it out, but it could be hours before (and if) the price stabilizes.

My favorite trick to getting around these high prices is to take any public shuttles an airport offers away from the airport. For instance, at LAX, I like to take the public rental shuttles away from the airport, and call a ride from there. This does things. The first is that it takes me out of the airport zone where ride share companies can charge an airport fee, and two, it brings takes me out of the traffic, and towards the direction of my home. Not all airports will have public shuttles or rental bus shuttles, but in the even there is, that will be your ticket to a cheaper ride share.
